The Monkey Bars--Sammy's nemesis

My kids along with a few others from WBC before the start of the Walker Pickle Days parade. I sat up there with Tate during the parade holding his shirt and passing DumDums out to the kids to throw. I only gave them each two at a time, but we still ran out long before the end of the parade. We went to fireworks later that night that were excellent! The cutest thing--Chase fell asleep during the fireworks, lying on his back on the grass with his hands over his ears.

Sammy and her friend Lucy had a great time at 3rd Grade Camp with their counselors Emily and Liz! Of course, I didn't hear a thing from her all week. :)

The cousins all together on the couch! Tate and Chase are only pushing each other in this picture, not like the previous one in which they were hitting. It's been so much fun seeing my sister and her family several times this summer!

This is our Monster Zucchini. Glen said it had been hiding. :) The little truck next to it is a regular-sized Matchbox car. I scooped out the seeds from this, shredded the rest, made 60 zucchini muffins and still had at least half of it left over! I've kind of slowed down on the zucchini recipes, but I do plan to make and freeze some more muffins, then shred and freeze more to bake with in the winter (like I don't usually have rotten bananas sitting on my counter that need to be made into banana bread!)

We enjoyed a special time Monday morning with some good old friends. Chase and Lucy were so cute!

It's been fun being back at CVBC this week for their week of Fun in the Son. It's such a neat thing--different people in the church teach classes in their areas of interest/expertise, and there are singing and lesson times at the beginning and end of the evening. The kids rank their first-fifth choice of classes, and they are assigned before the week starts. Britta took archery and tae kwon do, Sammy took horses (they brought in horses every night for the kids to ride!) and soccer, and I helped teach a class on scrapbooking/papercraft. Tate was in the preschool/K class, and Chase played in the nursery each night. The kids just love it!

Last Sunday, we were at a family reunion. Right before we were about to leave, Sammy fell off of the monkey bars. She hit her head pretty hard on the bottom rung of the ladder. Glen could tell at the time she had a mild concussion, so we woke her up that night, checked her eyes, etc. Wednesday afternoon/evening she started having some headaches, so Glen took her to the doctor Thursday. She was scheduled to have a CT this morning, but last night after Fun in the Son at CVBC, she started feeling nauseous, so we all went to the ER (didn't even make it 6 weeks this time!) and she had the CT last night. Praise the Lord, her brain looked normal, but the doctor said she has post-concussive syndrome, which means headaches and nausea for a few days. Today, she's on clear liquids which she hasn't been keeping down yet. Please pray for her!

We are looking forward to EIBC family camp next week! I'm praying Sammy is feeling much better by Monday. Our trailer is air-conditioned, so she would be able to keep comfortable there if she's not quite up to par, but my prayer is that she is fully recovered so that there is no question what we should do.

oooo, family camp, that's the BEST!!! I loved going there every summer and we'd usually do it twice!

Hope Samantha's feeling better, ouch!
