More Chase

The big news from today is that Chase needs glasses. I've thought for a while that his eyes didn't always look like they were working together. I took my camera in to the eye doctor and showed her the video of him blowing out his candles--she could see it right away. His left eye is very farsighted, and his right eye is just a little bit farsighted. If I looked, I could probably find the name she gave it, but it had part of "asymmetry" and ended in "trope." When I asked him what he thought about getting glasses, he said, "I want a snack." We ordered the glasses tonight from a different optometrist's office (closer to home in the event of needing repair), and he was disappointed to leave without them. He looked very cute, but it will take some getting used to! He's supposed to wear them as much as possible, but the doctor said we might have trouble getting him to do it because he has the one good eye that has been compensating all this time. Tate is also getting a stronger prescription, but good news--Sammy saw the eye doctor today as well, and she is doing fine. No glasses for her! I had been a little worried. Once again though, no new glasses for me. :) I've had this pair since college, and they are very dated looking. I don't wear them out of the house, so I can't justifiy buying myself a new pair unless there is extra in our flex account at the end of the year. The girls tease me about them, and one of their friends who had spent the night said, "Oh Mrs. ---, your glasses are so big!"
