Mixed Blessing

My husband Glen is very handy. He knows about a lot of practical stuff, and he can repair most of the things that break in our house. I love this about him. Sometimes when I come home from work, he'll say, "Did you notice what I did today?" I'm not very good at this game, because we don't notice the same things. So last night when he asked me, I asked for a hint. My hint was: you'll like it, but I don't think you'll appreciate it. I could not figure out HOW this could be true--if I like it, how could I possibly not appreciate it? By the time we went to bed, I still had not figured out what it was, and I was lucky enough to get him to tell me (he won't always do this). I will say, had I sat on the couch, I would have noticed right away, because he fixed it. And he's absolutely right. I like it, but I don't appreciate it. I thought that our couch was too old and unsupportive, and I was starting to get excited about getting a new one. I hated sitting in it, because there is little to no back support, and lately it felt like I sank nearly to the floor. Anyway, Glen pushed the back cushions up, cut the lining and screwed together the 3 (out of 4) parts in the back of the couch that were broken. The couch is so much nicer to sit on! But I don't get a new one, at least for a couple of years, until the boys are a little more mature. :)

ha ha...that's too funny! not about you NOT getting a couch, just that I can totally hear Glen saying that now.
