It's my mom's birthday today--and it's a big one. I won't tell how old she is, but it ends in zero. I'm 36, and she didn't have me in her teens. I am thankful for her years of wisdom and her always being there for me. I love you mom!
Holiday preparations--yesterday, Britta and I stuffed the Christmas cards, and they went into the mail today. I had to work today, and Britta was semi "in-charge" while Glen slept until noon. He said it wasn't too bad; he only had to get up once to deal with Tate, who is the one that I would have anticipated her having trouble with. :) I ordered a couple more gifts online last night, then realized they won't be here in time. Oh well . . .
I've been trying to somewhat control my holiday goodie eating, but one of our techs brought in cakeballs today, so I had to have a few. Then I went to DQ after work to buy a gift card, and do you know you get a free small Blizzard when you buy a $20 worth of gift cards? That wouldn't have made it all the way home! So far my only strategy that I've stuck to is eating oatmeal made with milk and 1/2 teaspoonful of cinnamon (no sugar) for breakfast every morning except Saturday. It's probably doing me a little bit of good. :)
I told the girls that tomorrow we will try to go to the dollar store for them to pick out gifts for each other. Thanks for the idea, Holly! The only problem is that there's a dense fog advisory until 10am tomorrow. I'm supposed to work from 2-6, so we'll see.
Britta, Sammy and I have been having fun watching the Love Comes Softly, etc. movies. They were all on last Saturday, so I tivoed them, and we've done about one each night. The storyline in the 5th one (Love's Unending Legacy) was nothing like the book, but I enjoyed it anyway. I've also been recording and watching a lot of the cheesy Christmas movies on ABC Family and the Hallmark channel. My favorite Christmas movie is still White Christmas, which I have not watched yet this year, but I have listened to it in the van while the kids watched it.
