On Wednesday, we recieved some very nice chocolates from some dear friends. They even came with guidelines on how best to enjoy them (chocolate at room temperature, cleanse the palate with sparkling or still water (also room temperature, not cold), AND "note the silky smooth texture of premium chocolate, ganaches, truffle and cream centers by pressing them to the roof of your mouth with your tongue." At first, we couldn't find the little map that tells which piece is where. Glen decided to be adventurous, picked a pretty dark chocolate, and popped it into his mouth. It turned out to be mocha cream--and he hates coffee flavor. :) The guide was actually pictures with descriptions of the individual chocolates, and I found it just after he ate the first one. Anyway, we studied the pictures, and everyone got to choose one piece. Wonderful! We set the box up on top of the microwave so the dog couldn't get them.
The next morning, I noticed the empty box of chocolates in the trash can. I was a little mad at Glen for eating them all when he got home from work. I couldn't believe that he would disappoint the kids like that--they had been so excited to try the fancy chocolates. I didn't get a chance to say anything to him about it, because on Thursday mornings, I wake him up just as I'm leaving for work. When I got home, he asked me why I had eaten all of the chocolates! We couldn't figure out what had happened. The girls both denied eating them (we can tell when Britta is lying, and Sammy does not generally lie). I don't think we asked the boys, but as Glen and I talked about it, we realized that Tate had been up before me that morning. When confronted, the boys confessed. Apparently, Tate had first gotten the box down just to look at it, temptation won, and that was the end of the chocolate. Next time, maybe we'll just let the boys have some cheap chocolates and hide the good stuff better.

ha ha...that's exactly what my Mom used to do-hide the chocolate-in fact I'm pretty sure she still does! Funny that the boys put the empty box in the trash...I would've hidden it! ;)
