Wintry Day

I drove home from work last night very carefully . . . it had started snowing around 3pm, and the pharmacy didn't close until 6. The road was covered in snow, and visibility was low because of the wind. Glen had a crazy night helping intellectually challenged people who ventured out onto the highway. He was glad to get home in one piece! I was thankful for his safety too. :

Church was cancelled this morning, and I wouldn't have gone anyway since our road was so drifty. I was walking in snowdrifts up to my knees when I took the dog outside! I so wish that he would just do his business and come back in, but I have to walk him on the leash or he'd run off. At least now I know he'll go if I take him out.

Late this morning, I let the kids watch a movie (The Veggie Tales Christmas Double Feature) and went downstairs to tackle the toy room. The girls had taken most of the toys and games that were upstairs down to the basement on Thursday while I was at work. I am happy to say, it is done, with a big box+ full for Goodwill and about two kitchen-size trash cans full of broken toys. The kids must have been quiet, because Glen didn't complain. I shuffled holiday songs on my iPod and worked away. Kind of like the fingers in your ears, "la, la, la, I can't hear you!" I went up to make lunch, and the Glen got up so I went back downstairs and finished shortly after they were done with supper.

Britta made sugar cookies this afternoon. She did it all by herself! She and Sammy also made Christmas candies (with candy melts and molds) one night and a gingerbread Christmas tree yesterday while I was at work.

Yes, they're still wearing their pajamas. I think Britta did actually put on jeans yesterday, but we've been pretty casual this first week of Christmas break! Glen took their picture--thanks honey! When I got home, all of the kids were bugging me to let them eat it--no lie, in about 10 minutes, all that was left were the bottom two cookies! The cookies were pre-baked, so I imagine they were probably pretty stale.

I am waiting now for Glen to get home from Wal-Mart with tape so I can wrap the presents I need to have for tomorrow. Glen and I both thought we had more tape until I actually went to look for it. :) My neighbor Amy said she had plenty if Glen wanted to ride the snowmobile over and pick it up, but we needed a few groceries anyway. Glen said Highway 150 to Independence is closed, but they let him through in the Excursion. It's all who you know. :)

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!
